I was having a few issues with my cab quality and got tired of trying to track down what was going on so I just stopped cabbing awhile back. I started to miss it so I bit the bullet and replaced all of my wheels with an OEM set of genie wheels figuring that would be the least headache to get going again. These are the first five cabs to break in the new wheels. Bummer about the dust showing up but in person this one looks really good. This is a test cab from a 10 pound chunk of Prudent man vein #1 that is my saw right now Thanks for looking Chuck

Looks like the new wheels are working for you, Chuck! Beautiful cabs -- the Bloodstone is my favorite.

The prudent man is beautiful Thank you. I am going to have a whole lot of slabs from that rock. Trying to do a little research on value then most will be going up for sale. If you are interested PM me. Chuck

Nice shine on those cabs. What wheels did you end up going with for the Genie? Were they hard to break in.

Nice shine on those cabs. What wheels did you end up going with for the Genie? Were they hard to break in. I went with the standard 80 and 220 hard wheels. For the soft wheels I went 220, 600, 1200, 3000 and 8000. I have a 6" spin on 14,000 soft Nova disc for the end. The 220 Nova soft wheel is not standard issue on the Genie. 280 is usually the first wheel but several people have switched to the 220 to save time getting the 220 hard wheel scratches out. So far the break in seems to be going really well on these wheels. My previous issues were all revolving around a couple new wheels that I could not get to behave. They were Nova wheels that I just could not get to work right. These first five cabs on this new set of wheels look better then any of cabs I was getting out of the last set. Chuck

I'm loving that bloodastone, but they all look great. Glad your new wheels are working out. So frustrating to have bad wheels.

Looks like the wheels and you are working well. Do you know what material is in the last two solo pictures? I like those.

Looks like the wheels and you are working well. Do you know what material is in the last two solo pictures? I like those. Those last two came from a Brazilian agate I slice up. I was thinking those would be good hard cabs for the wheel break in but the white banded areas were a bit softer then the solid agate section. Chuck

Maybe I need to slice more Brazilian up so know what they look like.

This picture shows how the white area disappeared further into the rock. Luckily I had one more slab with the white to explain it. This may help explain it agatelady.com/agate-basics/#agate_characteristicsChuck

With the dome on the cabs and the camera angle, I didn't even realize those bands were straight. They appeared to have a curve to them. It all make sense now.
