This is a rather good size chunk of pet wood that was collected in the petrified forest before it became a national park. It is yummy! You really can't see what a shine it has but to give you an idea, that lighter area along the bottom is the reflection of the bubble wrap it was sitting on. We were going to split it and each take a half, but I really don't think we should cut it. This is a "specimen" not something that should be cut up. Don't ya'll agree? Can ya'll see the fish? Actually there's two of them - one big one and a smaller one. llana

WOWOWOW Heavens no it shouldn't be cut up, it's gorgeous. Hubby says it looks like one of the Apollo capsules flaming it's way back to earth. Hard to believe it was once a tree, what absolutely gorgeous colors.

well look how thick it is, couldn't you make it into 2 or 3 slabs, and then you could see more of it. not as much would be just hidden on the inside

llana see those fracture lines i wouldent cut it because i just went through that with some wood,, i slabed it and it looked great but with alittle presure it just crumbled and it would be a shame for that piece to break up its alot nicer then the stuff i was cuttin

Llano, Love that rock, especially as a speciman, The bark on the outside really authenticates the piece...the shine is awesome, I can see you, oops, I mean a triggerfish from the lower left corner going up to the right( I wonder if you even saw that one!) and another fish in the middle with a purple eye. csroc

A beautiful rock Llana. I agree with Sandsman....leave it as is.
Too nice to tamper with.

It really is a beautiful rock. The colors are really vivid and the shine is mirror. It's much too pretty to cut. And, as Sands said, with the fractures running thru it, it might not cut very good without really messing it up. I am not willing to take a chance on ruining it by trying to cut it. no really, who gets the rock' Stoner gets the rock 'cause he paid for it. I should have already had it packaged up and in the mail to him, but I have been a bad girl. I set it on top of a shelf while I hunted for a box to pack it in last weekend, then got sidetracked and didn't find the box I was looking for until Tuesday. Since Tuesday I have been so stinkin' tired I haven't even had the energy to pack it up. Need to get that done before Stoner puts me on the three thumbs down list! It is going to be hard to part with though. It is sitting between a big vase full of rocks and two stackable glass bowls of rocks and looks real pretty sitting there! Guess I will just have to take a pic, make a frame for the pic, and put the pic where the rock is. llana
