I'm re-assembling an old Star Diamond TS-10 and it seems like the arbor might be missing a part or in need of an adjustment I don't understand. Please see photos below. Is it normal for the threaded piece sticking out of the housing to be exposed like that? It seems like the arbor housing would end up collecting a lot of sludge.

There is a flat spacer that is missing, it keeps the blade squared up with the shaft ! It snugs up tight against the shoulder on the shaft.

Would the spacer go on the smallest part of the shaft or the thicker section? FWIW, there are currently flanges on the smallest part (not that easy to see, but they’re in the picture that includes the blade).
Sorry, I’m sure this is all “Lapidary Saws 101” level stuff. I’m very new and trying to make sure I don’t wreck this thing on my first cut.

Also looks like the (Sears) Star Diamond 10" we have. You have the flange washer on both sides of the blade, so you should be good.

Sorry, I missed the flange washer in the pic. rolling the shaft when tightened should tell if the blade is running straight or not!
