Hi all. I was finally able to get some decent pitcures of the last couple of batches out of polish. And I had to try out my new 18" saw blade to see how well it cuts. That picture jasper I got from Banjo was just begging to be slabbed, so I cut into the "Rocky Butte, Idaho" rock. This stuff is amazing-and it is verrrrry hard-as hard as agate. The blade is one of those China imports(cost $138) so we'll see how long it lasts. I put the slabs on my flat lat and ground one edge of each section flat so I could put the two pieces together as a "bookmatch". Without any further ado, here's the pics for you! Picture Jasper Last couple of batches-Agates, Jaspers, Mex Crazy Lace, Blue Lace, and Texas Flint and Pet wood(from Llana). taken outdoors indoors close up I also had some softer beach rock in those batches, but it didn't shine up very well, so I threw it back into polish by itself for an extra 4 days and it came out alright. Actually alot of this rock came from the foundation of a house built in 1928 that is being restored. I grabbed a couple of chunks that were gonna be tossed in the dumpster and chipped the rocks out of the cement. everything That's it til next time. Ed

Great looking stuff ED. Nice shine and good selection. I'm glad the picture Jasper meets your approval. It's always tough to figure out what the inside looks like. It takes a great shine though. I like that Missourri Agate you've got in there too! Great going Ed!!!

Great looking stuff. I love patterns and shine on what I believe is the petwood. Also, one orange/brown stone in the first two pics is remarkably oval, I presume that was shaped?

YUM YUM ED! Sooo pretty, great shine. I think you'll find the next batch I post surprisingly similar. I love the finish I get on agates, pet wood, jasper and flint, so I lean in that direction. Just brought some out of "'Lil Ed" to the vibe for 600. Actually, they are in borax now, will go to 600 in an hour or 2. Alot of it is your local stuff. Now I know, if it doesn't finish as well, go back to polish one more time. ;D Great job!

BTW. What's your formula? As I tend to do the same kind of stones, I'd love to know.

Hi Cookie. The important thing about putting the softer stones back into polish is to just run the softer stones alone. I went thru my bowls of stones from last year and grabbed enough to make a full load. The formula is the usual, 60/90 til I like the shape, 120/220 for 5-7 days, 600 for 5 days, 1000 for 5 days, polish+1Tbls borax for 5-7 days. If ya really want to drool, check out the pics of the rock show I went to yesterday.
