A while back I bought a Lortone 18" saw. Been super happy with it. When I purchased it, it had an inexpensive, thin crimped blade. Based on comments on this forum, I was skeptical about it.
So far, very happy. It cuts great, no matter what I throw at it. Lots of agate and jasper, some of which is nearly at the limit of size capacity. I just run some obsidian between cuts of hard stuff and it seems to be cutting every bit as well as the first cut. Remains to be seen how well it holds up over the longer term, but I'd guess I've done 100 cuts or more.
I was given an old style blade (probably the original?) with the saw. It definitely has diamond left but it clearly was run to exhaustion without dressing. My thought was that I could recondition it if needed, but will most likely take a fair amount of work. It's much thicker, so for now I'll keep running the crimped blade.

Most crimped rim blades get bent before they get worn out because they are usually a thinner stock and bend easier. I ran one for 6 years before I wore it out, cut thousands of slabs with it. Tony

Still cutting with the 301 style blade that came on our Frantom - for over a year and a half now. Will be looking for a new one when we get to Q.
