Emerald and Montana Sapphire rough. All of these were photographed dry. Alice, does this look like yours? I think it is fine, better than some that I bought since it doesn't have too much of the black matrix. These Montana sapphires are about the only thing I got a good picture of, unaltered, the colors are true and they shine. Camera work involved was that I used the close up range setting on the camera along with bright day, held it at really close range (about 8-10 inches maybe). These are so pretty the way they are, I am not sure I should try to tumble them! Thanks!

LOL! Love the topic line ;D I think overall your emeralds look better. Yours Don't appear to have as much grey stuff or matrix. But they look smaller then mine, but then again it's hard to tell with nothing to size them up to. I have about 1 1/2 pounds tumbling with garnets right now, and still have about 1 1/2 pounds left to tumble. OH BOY! I'm in for a long run. LOL Your sapphires look great! Nothing like mine. Mine aren't even clear! (They're like those pesky ones you've been working forever on). Looks like you got great buys! Keep us posted (with pictures of course )

I have such a hard time just with the photos, I forget the size ref. These ems are pretty much 1/4 to 1 inch in the longest dimension, if that. The sapphires are small -- less than pea size. I never had sapphire that looked like this before either! It was pricier than the other. I found it on Ebay from 2 different sellers. I wanted to get Montana sapphire because of a woman I met at a rock show. She had a plastic container full of tumbled ones she'd done herself, said that her dad had picked them up. That clearness and the pastel colors really turned me on. Most MT sapphire is heat treated. The first photo is the non heat treated. I searched Ebay for Montana sapphire. There are a couple people selling it, I put several auctions on my watch and picked them up that way, got some super cheap on an end run, also got a buy it now. Like everything else, it was an experiment.

I would facet the really blue sapphire and tumble the others. You have some great pieces there. Tami
