I've been bargain hunting ebay recently and got this 1.5 pound piece of Willow Creek rough. I glued it to a board and will slab it tomorrow. This picture has more light on it than what I bought from but I saw some nice colors. It's nice having my saw working again.

Landfill. Lessons learned. I've been looking for WC and the slabs I saw were not very good and overpriced. Ideally, purchased rough should be faced but is more expensive. I've never bought WC rough and what I learned is that a brown rock will probably produce brown slabs. The larger slab is the best and the next one would be much worse. None of it is usable.

Knowing is usually better than not knowing. I paid $15.76 for the piece of rough which was landfill and paid $11.57 delivered for a small slab from the same seller. I saw orbs and the piece was nicer than the ebay picture. I got greedy and split it.

I haven't mastered the split so the cut tends to get messy but relatively even. I used the hacked up sides as the tops.

Bummer about the rough. It looked promising in the top picture! Those cabs will be killer though, with those orb patterns!
