from my last vibe batch . Had about 70-80 redo cabs that had lumpy domes , scratched or other weird defects that I wanted to get fixed up before winter set in . So decided to give the a ride in the vibe and fix them later if needed . Tossed them , along with a few rocks , and a bucket of ceramics in . Extended (4 1/2 hour) run in 120/220 , a lengthy (14 hour) run in 600 Sic , and about 40 hours (I got lazy) in polish . Fixed all the lumpy , scratches , and other funky stuff . Someday I will work on my rock photo taking skills , but here is a handful I dug out of the batch . Thanks for takin a look .

I love seeing all the beautiful pictures here on the forums. It’s sooooo hard for me to even imagine any of what I see to be actual rocks. It’s so totally different here in New Jersey. Anything that I find that looks even half way decent winds up to be to soft and either disintegrates into nothing or just wont ever get smooth enough to do anything with. It’s like a whole other world that you people live in to me.
It sucks because I really like to go out and look for rocks, but I think reality is sinking in and I’m just gonna have to try to save money to eventually buy some real rocks to tumble and see how that goes. Though I don’t know if it’ll be as exciting, beings that I didn’t actually find them myself.
In any case I really appreciate all the photos that everyone shares. Otherwise I’d have never known the real beauty in rocks that are unknown to me. Thanks to you all for sharing your experiences with me and the rest of the community.

Must be fun to see the progression you have made with the wrapping.

I don't have any, either. There are people on the board who sell rock that might could hook you up. roy, can you put a tumble mix together at a good price point for him? Y'all should PM. Anyone else here able to send some tumble stock for cheap? I would but I basically have slabs.
I don't tumble much, so I can't really help. I sink all my money into slabs cause I sure ain't finding them in the sand. You have to get creative. I know several people will look through gravel mixes at nurseries and places like that- maybe places that make concrete statues and benches or sell landscape rock by the dump load? Marble tumbles nicely. Check a shop that makes counters for scraps.

Many thanks for the advice and my apologies. I didn’t mean to turn this subject into me. I’m just thankful for all of the pictures to look at and just wanted to express my appreciation. Times are really rough for me at the moment, being disabled and fighting for Social Security for the past 3 years, so money is really tight, but hopefully that will change soon. Then I can purchase some rocks to see how they turn out. In the meantime I did spend a whole whopping two dollars on a cool rock grabber from Harbor Freight, so that I can still get out and get some exercise and not have to hurt my back and neck any more than they do already and won’t have to keep trying to bend down for my rocks, so I’m pretty excited about that.

Sure hope you don't think all of these are local self picked rocks . Out of these , 4 are self picked but 2 are local .

Guess the doctoring worked well. Pretty cabs! Was kinda worried about such short coarse and pre polish stages , but have confidence in the ole wiggle machine . They all are soooo much better looking than they look here .

They all are soooo much better looking than they look here . Nice looking cabs! The short 120/220 stage would worry me the most. I would think that short of a time would not allow the grit to break down. I would think after 4 hours there would still be scratches at lets say a 200-300 level VS a 24 hour run having scratches at the 500 level. I wont argue with success though. When I do pre-shapped cabs in the vibe and do not wont to over grind and lose shape I actually run the ceramics and rocks for about 12 hours in 120/220 then add in the cabs for the next 36 hours. That way the grit has already broke down a bit and is less harmful to my shapes. Different logic same results. Chuck

Chuck When I did this batch the weather was going to turn much colder and cleanouts in the cold isn't fun . And most of the load needed to go back a few wheels anyway so I wouldn't have been out much if my methods didn't work . Was a little concerned about the short first stage , especially when I rinsed it out and there was some grit left . If I had some straight 220 I would have run that instead of the 120/220 . But it all seemed to work out fine . Got a heck of a polish on the obsidian and the Kona I tossed in as well as everything else . I generally don't run stage one longer than 16-20 hours . Stage two is usually 24 . And polish I always go for about 48 hours . I am not recommending others to try my methods , but in my vibe , it works for me .

I’ll surely keep you in mind when money isn’t so tight. Been fighting for Social Security for three years now and am waiting on yet another decision from them hopefully within the next 2 months. In the meantime keep those beautiful photos coming. I just love seeing what everyone finds and how you all turn something that was already beautiful to begin with even more so. Best wishes and happy hunting to all.
