Yes it rhymes. I started slabbing the Owyhee I got from catmadewe. Last time it was 3 medium pieces glued them to boards and got some nice size slabs. I then figured out the designs. This time it was small, medium and uneven. I had to be creative in my cutting; cuts so it was firm in the vise. I did a great job guessing on the orientation of the cuts and already got some nice slabettes. Think snack size candy bars. It will take a few more days to evaluate the haul, but all of his material has been nice. Too dark to photograph.

Started with the small rough. I have 10 or more small slabs to cut of the stripey stuff but am in no hurry to cut more. The blue rough was hourglass shape so it cut a 1/2 inch piece in the narrowest point.

I cut the biggest piece.

Next piece. I put a small piece of rough in slab grabber to face. A piece of jelly bean and I'll call it a day. I've never seen this pattern before, so I'll glue to a board and rotate 90 degrees and try a different cut.

This is Jelly Bean from ebay. The heel was stunning and unusable. I Got this slice and one on the board which isn't as nice as this one. I'll finish the slabbing on Tuesday.

This piece was faced and the slabs were nicer.

Amazing! Who would’ve thought such beauty could be inside?

That big one was disappointing but the rest seem to be good.

Some great material there, I'm sure you'll make some fantastic cabs!

The big piece is mainly unusable but there is an area in each slab where there are blue and tans and depending on vugs and fractures might make 3 nice cabs. From the 2 batches a lot of nice blues and other colors, not a lot of dendrites. I search ebay for lapidary material regularly and very little of the Owyhee compares with this. It is all very ahrd/gemmy and requires some force to sand. My twrim saw is going to get very busy. I thought the orientation of the cut was wrong on this piece. When I cut the other end it was the same pattern so I continued cuting the same way. Very unusual pattern. The stripy material is in the saw now and will get larger slabs. I glued up the Rocky Butte for later.

I see trees in the two on the left... Very cool material.

I finished off the Owyhee except for a very small piece and also the piece of Rocky Butte. I left a two slab heel. The color is the same but the lighting is off.

Sometimes if you take the stripey ones and cut parallel to the stripes you get some killer scenes.

I started looking for scenes in the slabs and found this one which I call A woman and her cat snowball.

I cut the Rocky Butte and with the orientation I chose the scenes weren't great. I trimmed the three big slabs and got three okay scenes.
