Mullein plants are plentiful on my land this year. It is a plant I grew up with and that my family used for many things. A bonus is that the butterflies, bees and other insects love the blooms. The largest plant is about 7' tall. I took these photos after AM chores today and just before the clouds produced heavy rain. The last photo shows a tree bent from the high winds.

Yes, rockjunquie , they are. BUT, the two we saw last October were outside on green plants, not inside on white-ish walls. They really stuck out like sore thumbs, I really thought they'd be toast! Was quite surprised to see this one had survived and grown larger! Thank you! That makes more sense. I've never seen a white one. Only green and brown. they are white after molting and then gradually return to their original color of brown or green

I love bear sausage and steaks. Really miss the local friends from where I lived before. They combine bear and wild bore meat to make the most amazing sausage. All processing was done by them.

Been camping in Santee Cooper SC for a few days. I've gone fishing each morning at daybreak for a couple hours and have been averaging two catfish per day. Getting some nice fillets in the freezer.

Look at you go Rick. That sounds so amazing right now. Using terminal tackle as I had one bust some 25lb line a couple days ago when a reel fouled up. Heavy duty rods and reels and fishing from the bank. 60lb leader 2 1/2 feet long, flat 3 ounce slip sinker and a small styrofoam float a few inches from the hook to float it up and away from the bottom. Had one rod get pulled into the lake and had to graple it out. To correct that I now have tent stake with a bungee cord attached to it and the reel. There is a video about this catfish rig I'll find and post here.

Had a dinner date after work with this young man. A little later he grabbed a book and climbed up next to me. He insisted that I read him the book twice. AJ signed more, after the first time.

Recent photo. I call these rolling wall clouds. Cannot remember the official name. Had only experienced one before. Was in the late 1990's on my way to work. Our maintenance person asked me to come on roof with him to see the water spout in Lake Michigan. He had been watching the cloud. This is a double one. I called NWS to report it. They said it was kind of rare for this area. Asked me to report again, if I encountered any severe weather. There was about 40 MPH winds, heavy rain and 3/4" hail when I was under it. I could see the rolling action of these clouds.

You would have made a great meteorologist Beth! Thanks. Being a NWS Storm Spotter was on my bucket list for many years. I have experienced many tornado's, the forst when I was 8 years old. A couple years ago it became a reality to be a storm spotter. Would encourage anyone to do this. Classes available online. Many other optional online classes available. All for free. I was being OCD, so took about 5 additional classes. Learned a lot. There is also enhanced radar info for storm spotters. These include various radar feeds with potential for strong winds, hail, lots of rain. Same for winter events. Even if you do not actively report storm events to NWS, the info is helpful if you are outside, such as when finding rocks. I have been giving a heads up to the camp grounds and State Park near me, which they appreciate. Also, to neighbors.
