Yesterday was 61 degrees and sunny. I spent most of the day slabbing some rocks. This is what I woke up to this morning. LOL Tomorrow's a new day...

This is what happens when a friend knows you tumble rocks. They found these at a garage sale. Each packet has about 1.5 tablespoons. I graciously accepted their gift.

No, I did not make this, but was fortunate to purchase for a great price. There were 4 pints to begin with, but 2 of them were purchased by others before I left work. Should be set on maple syrup for a couple of years. I was impressed by the color and clarity, as I had purchased sight unseen. It is a nice light to medium. Considered Grade A. The taste is exceptional. Seller drove 30 miles to deliver to me at work, which I greatly appreciated.

Eggs, bacon, wild bore sausages, home made waffles, buckwheat waffles or pancakes made with a starter mix.
I grew up with buckwheat pancakes made with a starter. My Great Grandma established the starter in the 1920's. It lived until the late 1990's. I was fortunate to get another, long time starter a few years ago. Nothing better than real buckwheat pancakes made with an established starter. The ones made for mixes are not the same. Real Buckwheat pancakes are very dense and full of flavor. They are loaded with little holes when done.
My daughter loves this starter. She has some and hopes to keep it going for many years.
Sorry, maybe this should be posted in the recipe thread, with the specific ingredients to establish a starter. My recipe is very old school, but it works.

Well, I think my calendar just got opened up a bit! Thanks for posting this one Mike!!! I just looked through all the pictures on the website - I wonder how they intend to do this auction. Holy smokes there's a ton of finished rock as well as rough.

I think my Saturday is booked. Those pictures cracked me up. A couple pictures of a few select categories of rocks and then the casually throw out the “more rocks” label. That was a bit of an understatement. I could just see someone sitting there thinking they would label each type of rock and then realizing they would be sitting there for a few months if they followed through with that plan. “More rocks” it is then.

Edisto Beach SC. Sea Turtle sign, Evening Primrose growing along the sand dunes. Our pet coon is having a blast at the beach. These guys are all over the place, day and night. OMG! I know there's a ton I don't know about you...but I'll be floored if anything about you gets much better than having a pet raccoon! miket - only 46 days until the auction! Whoot Whoot! stephan - I've loved seeing your flower and stinger pics! They're so stunning! amygdule - I hope the brakes got fixed without a hitch! And thanks for the smile from the pellet stove. RickB - I could have mentioned it above...but it just takes up more space this way...LOL...I absolutely love the pics you regularly post in here.

One questions - isn't there a concern that the coons will dig up and eat the sea turtle eggs?

hummingbirdstones - I'd think the risk was almost negligible considering it's got a plate of food (not requiring much effort) right in front of him/her...but it does appear to be eyeing something off camera other than the food! LOL
