Edisto Beach SC. Sea Turtle sign, Evening Primrose growing along the sand dunes. Our pet coon is having a blast at the beach. These guys are all over the place, day and night. Nice pics! One questions - isn't there a concern that the coons will dig up and eat the sea turtle eggs?
Soon as the baby coons get a little bigger, many will be caught in cages and they will join the racoon relocation program. Released in another area away from the beach. I have a friend here that checks each morning for turtle nests. They will stake out, date and record each nest then put down a wide mesh plastic netting to keep the predators out. I've seen literally hundreds of nesting sites roped off, marked and secured. They have listening devices and can hear the young turtles grunting and digging their way up when they are hatching. Groups of people are invited to watch them come out of the sand dunes and head to the water. School kids participate a lot.

That would be an amazingly spectacular part of nature that I would feel blessed to witness. I've seen it on TV, but that's not the same as seeing it personally.

hummingbirdstones - I'd think the risk was almost negligible considering it's got a plate of food (not requiring much effort) right in front of him/her...but it does appear to be eyeing something off camera other than the food! LOL He's having some dogfood with beef stew gravy mixed in. We fixed beef stew in the crock pot yesterday and had to do it inside the camper so the coons wouldn't get into it. We've been seeing these guys crossing the campground roads at all times of the day. They tore into someone's tent to get their trash. Saw one trying to open a cooler and another on a lady's picnic table while she was sitting there. This big guy had just chased a smaller coon away.

Ah it was wild cool ride dule I saw so much north 93 out of Arizona Really scenic stuff Through Kingman over the newer bridge that bypasses the Hoover Dam. That was a first for me. Always when heading to Vegas went over the old Hoover damn road. . We then went northbound on State Route 95 through Nevada Nevada is a bare bare land. Ha Only a geologist could enjoy the scenery. Which I really did! Thos banding in the mountain are fabulous! We also stopped in Goldfield and Tonopah, 2 old ghosty mining towns. Cool! The latter part of of I95 got interesting. Nighttime. Winding mountain high elevation 8.8% downgrade road to Fallon Nv. Signs saying Falling Sheep/ Falling Rocks. I’m like: bring it on! Then out of Fallon we went northeast for a bit on I80 the Eisenhower interstate and reconnected to I95 to McDermitt. Nevada Oregon border. Jouney on up I95 to Burns Jnction. Oregon, Seem then that we headed northeastley on I95 to Jordan Valley, Or. Take me to the river. Put me in the water. That real close to the Idaho border Which we did then cross into Idaho and toured such wonderful small towns as Homedale, Caldwell., Nyssa. Owyhee was all about! Out of Idaho we got on I84 headed northwesterly Not long after That when I spotted it! Hoood!
It was awesome !!! And now I’m bummed out I’m sure I snapped a photo on first glimpse. Can’t seem to find it. Anyway we headed I84 into Portland, The Columbia thrilled me. Mount St, Helen.Cool! But HOOD stood out. Ominous foreshadowing. Mountain Stands of trees tall trees. Cool mornings. Pleasnat daytime temps. Middle of April. I tripped the Oregon Trail. Did some Washington State also The ride home had it high moment also. That will be another long story,,,,,moslty

Meanwhile Down on the coast I've got Crusty Calipers I tend to forget about how much hell the salt-water "air" wreaks havoc for vehicles around the coasts...

Mother Nature bares her nasty teeth! I think it would still be worth living in the area you do...kind of a trade-off for the amazing beach strolls coastal dwellers get to frequently take.

I think my Saturday is booked. Rock auction and rock hounding after.
I find the “Terms” section interesting. Do people commonly try to trade pets for rocks at auctions? ”$500, $500, do I see $550?... And the lot goes to the gentleman in the hat for $575, three cats and aGerman shepherd.”

britney and I FINALLY got to meet the local rock club. We cleaned 2 miles of ditch, then we went and explored an ancient indian pipestone quarry area.
