very strange haven’t had that problem & usually I’m ahead of the curve...mostly must be this type of bird very aggressive guess it is a known phenomenon first I’ve heard of it ... mohs , that's not it. That's a mockingbird, and I agree, they are aggressive! There's actually two of these birds in the yard right now. They are mostly slate/brown with a lighter, almost yellow-orangish breast. I'll look at some bird websites tonight, if I don't ID them, I'll get some closer pics with a real camera (not phone!) They seem to always be out there. The pecking mirrors thing, and all the crapping is something new. jasoninsd , those starlings can be tough! I've already cleaned the mirrors once, doesn't look like any permanent damage was done. Unlike your mirrors!

Some territorial birds feel that their reflection is another bird and a threat. I have seen this happen with house windows, too. My Mom was once told to put decals on her windows to prevent birds from attacking them. It worked!

rockpickerforever Jean, we camp at Edisto Beach SC during the winter and those angry birds are there also. No matter which campsite we get they peck and poop up the mirrors on the truck and do the same to other vehicles in the park. Not sure what kind of bird does this to us but here's a list of suspects. www.thespruce.com/stop-birds-attacking-windows-386449

Thanks, Rick. RickBLooked it up, appears to be a California Towhee. Would post a photo from the internet, but my browser which just updated itself (losing ALL of my bookmarks in the process, argh!) won't allow me to paste a link. Will do it from my desktop later today.

My Mom was once told to put decals on her windows to prevent birds from attacking them. It worked! A few years ago, there was a feral peacock where I worked. The building was one of those mostly-glass ones, and the peacock would fight its reflection daily. I can just picture it thinking, "this guy is good! He's matching my every move perfectly."

very strange haven’t had that problem & usually I’m ahead of the curve...mostly must be this type of bird very aggressive never heard of a bird attacking an inanimate object guess it is a known phenomenon guess that see their image first I’ve heard of it which bring up an interesting question if you could paint a dot on its head would it recognize itself and stop attacking ? or are they self masochist? Most animals do not recognize their own reflections. Some of the few are bottle-nosed dolphins, orcas, some apes (but not monkeys), elephants, very few birds (Eurasian magpies).. Those animals that can, must learn to do so.

Yep those animal in mirrors is an interesting phenomena As a little tyke I recall my Noni taking me downtown Phoenix That when it was the shopping network for all of the Valley Before air- conditioned malls We’d spend all day down there As seamstress she stop would stop at the Lerner's and Singer stores I was fascinated with the 3-sided full length dressing modeling mirrors Infinti M hs ! Did I mention the new boots? Anyway mirrors history subject is interesting Especially grinding/polishing lens/ telescope … eta jus realized I don't have any dragonfly pictures have to get that on bucket list altho I do have a long story about mating dragonflies and big black bird a cautionary tale indeed

This is a recent photo of the Salt River up around Roosevelt Lake The picture is not as dramatic as the precarious position I put my self in to take it. Breaking laws , life & limb ha The Salt really dug a canyon further upstream & is the source of HohoKam success I got some of those pictures nothing recent on the bucket list soon

I want to run like this, with my tongue hanging out... Very talented he is to be able to run around like that! Just got to be careful not to crash and burn, lest he'll chomp it off. A tonguectomy? And he's got taco tongue!

Cat has hyperthyroidism. Been on meds about 3 months, but not doing any better. Still losing weight. Took him in yesterday. Thyroid is doing fine... but his kidneys are failing. He has moderate to severe failure. So, he gets a new, fancy, (expensive) diet and we hope for the best. We took him in as a stray, so every day of extra life is a bonus for him. We'll keep him happy. He's a good cat.

He's a good cat. I hope the new diet works out! Our 15-year old cat has hyperthyroidism, too. We tried the medication for a few months but it was making her miserable. We stopped the medication and she improved a lot and her latest thyroid tests still looked fine. She only weighs half of what she used to and requires many hours of lap time a day, but she’s tough.
