Husband grew up in Washington woods. They ate what they could catch: deer and salmon. Raised cows and chickens and had a garden.

Actually, I view hunting deer as a humane way of thinning the population. It's better to take a bullet than starve to death. Deer populations easily get quite large. Here in VA, if it weren't for hunting they'd be dropping like flies all over the place. Not a nice way to go.

I hope it’s not offensive to anyone I can take it down if so... Life is real. "woe unto those that are easily offended."

The remains of Douglas Castle where my Crosby (spelled Corsbie,Krosby. etc. by the scribes of the time) ancestors fought in the 1400-1700's. It was known as "Castle Dangerous" in Sir Walter Scott's novel of that name.
Coal was discovered and dug out under it and most of it has collapsed, stones carried off for other projects. A large nearby tree was known as "The Doomsday Tree" where criminals were hanged.

Years ago a neighbor decided to do this in the neighborhood and asked everyone to take part. The street I live on puts these candles in their front yards for Christmas every year, it actually looks really nice when it snows... Here's a picture that I took from in front of my house looking up the street last night, just thought I'd share.

Nice thread knave, thanks for starting this up. Here are three photos that my wife took this afternoon. We're at Edisto Beach SC for 12 days. Cool mornings but almost 70 degrees this afternoon. Been beach combing, looking for shells, fossils, artifacts. Rick B

RickB that sounds like a dream trip to me... After hurricane Floyd I spent a few months in Hyde Co, NC helping rebuild. Lots of good memories, OBX, Kitty Hawk, Hatteras lighthouse... The people were so welcoming and thankful in spite of all their troubles. Quite a few years have come and gone, now I’m married with 4 kids, and it is on my bucket list to get back there someday for sure!
