my friend recently returned from a vacation in Costa Rica and brought me some rocks. she wants me to make some earrings for her mother.. they are very soft, almost as soft as stichtite, so i'm not sure what i can do for her. here they are in the rough: i had a go with a few of them on the grinder today, popped some into pure polish barrel i have going, the rest i will dop and try to make something out of.. i actually ordered $25 gold filled earring screw mountings from Fire Mountain, so this is a big deal for me. this friends mom has been almost everywhere on the planet, a real world traveler, so i am hoping to do something local that will be cool. They sort of remind me of chalk (with bits of coarse sand).
Will be interesting to see how they turn out.

If you have a major problem working with those another suggestion would be, after you get the shape you want, put them on a small dop and dip them in high gloss polyurithane several times and get a good shine. Tami

Nice colors in the rough and I'm sure you'll do them proud! Good luck KD, if anyone can do it, you can!
