Using the posted recipe for Red Tiger Eye. Rocks came from The Rock Shed & Looked good as Golden Tiger Eye. This is what they looked like before four hours in the oven. Not too bad looking to start with. Now this is what they turned into. I can hardly wait to tumble them. I'll post some more pics when they are finished. Thanks for looking. I'll get the end results posted in a couple of months.

Does baking them make them harder? or do they stay the same on the MOH scale?

The blue strips were there before I baked it. Just after baking they "show" up a lot better.
I would not think baking would cause the hardness to change. They were left in the oven over night and allowed to cool down slowly.
I am looking forward to getting them into the tumbler and seeing how they turn out.

I thought golden tiger eye had brown stripes, and blue tiger eye had blue stripes. Guess I was wrong.

You can get a combination of Blue & Gold, which is what some of this was.
I like the gold the best.

Fire Mountain Gems Has red tiger eye beads that have really caught my eye (I'm thinking they would really compliment the Owyee Pic Jasper I'm tumbling next) Now I see these pics and I start thinking about making my own chips!
