Well, here is a picture of my still unbroken garden rock. It's bigger than it looks in the picture. It looks to be very hard, not grainey at all. Looks like it would take a polish, but it won't fit in my tumblers. Trish

I had a similar rock in my yard. It was very orange and looked like it had promise. I busted it up and it was just white quartz with a dark rind on it...

Trish has a wish.........may her wish come true......... here comes a man out of the blue, a man with a sledgehammer. And he means business, I saw him whacking this big hard piece of Rhodonite. and HARD it was !! the sledgehammer bounced back with force. The man won in the end and some rhodonite was taken home. I sure hope you will find the man with the sledgehammer Jack

I think Jack meant that was Rhodonite in the picture he put in. I don't know what your's is but that is one cool lookin' rock! Those colors are just neat ... I'd be finding some way to look at the inside.
I'd check like I mentioned to see if you have a local machine rental place for a small jack hammer ... or just keep whackin' it's got to give eventually.

I would say your rock looks alot like hematite that has been smoothed and has rusted with the weather. Tami
