Brought back a bunch of this stuff this weekend, I was so excited about it I wanted to do photos right away, but they don't show the detail -- so much bright sun probly. This is the best site yet. These first two are the same rocks turned over in the second shot. And this was a group of some of the smaller pieces: These next two are the same ones taken from different sides. Notice the diamond shapes on the surface of the second -- an odd fracture pattern or something? And a couple more -- again, the pictures don't really pick up the cool detailing in these. Those reds glittering in the creek were just amazing. You could see all the little tiny banding under water.

Wow Nice rocks Puppie! Must be neat to be collecting in a creek like that, stones all nice and washed and sparkling in the sun. That third pic shows some of the banding, especially that piece on the far right. Ya done good, makes me want to go out again.

I wish the photos were better. I'll try again when I've got a chance. Sizes range from a nickel to the big ones in the photos. I've got one that really looks like a laker. Weathered surface with visible banding in it, looks like a dried up potato like they say. Thanks for comments! pup
ps come on down this summer and we'll go for a ride....

Nice load Pup! What are you going to do with them? Break them, or slab them?

Looks like you got some good ones there, pup! Must be nice to be able to find neat rock in the local creek bed - something other than flint! Can't wait to see what you do with them.

llana, kd, alice, et al: I guess I'm just going to bust them up and tumble them. I'm strictly low tech here. Some of them are really cool looking rocks I wouldn't want to break apart, that I believe can be tumbled in the 12 lb. barrel even though they are big.
As far as what it is: these photos aren't great, but most of it is banded with tiny, fine bands like a fairburn or mex lace, often they are fortification agates. They have a lot of quartz associated with them and often are in drusy quartz nodules with an agate center. A bunch of it is jasper and then there are conglomerates. Some of it is probably mozarkite. Beyond that, my rock ID skills are the pits and really I was hoping you guys could help me -- but you'll need better pictures to do that.
I realize some of those photos showed pretty craggy, pitted rocks, but overall this rock is much more solid than what I've picked up before, and I think going to be easier to work with.
Thanks!

Tami, I really don't have anything to do with any of the rocks. They just keep multiplying. It's a problem yet to be solved.

It looks like a few of your rocks have druzy quartz crystals and the agate on the left in the last photo shows the druzy very well!!
