The groove wraps are awesome! The bowlerite really turned out nice. Glad you didn't groove wrap that Tee-Pee. That pattern deserves some smithing.

I like your style. I remember one year we went shopping for a new refrigerator—- on our anniversary!
Then we went to a nursery and got an armload of plants. Husband planted them all. Happy us 😀

Yup, that bowlerite looks really good! The tee pee will look great in a soldered setting. Looking forward to seeing it.

Perfection as always, how do you keep the right depth when cutting the groove? What is gauge of the wire? Do you have any problem with the obsidian cabs chipping out when you are grooving them. I know you probably posted answers to these questions before. Thanks in advance.

I know you probably posted answers to these questions before. Thanks in advance. Thanks. I completely free hand the depth of the groove. I would guess I have done well over 200 of these so I have a pretty good feel for it. The wire is 20 gauge square so .032" thick. I was playing it really dangerous cutting the groove so close to the back on the obsidian but it held up. Groove wrapping is not difficult but getting the wire to sit flush is by far the hardest part. Chuck

I wrap my cabs the same day that I cut them so I do not usually post many over here in the cabochon section. The three snowflakes came from one slab. The red is bowlerite is from a ball I cut up last week. Was going to cut this teepee for a groove wrap but now I am thinking it might end up as a silversmith piece. Thanks for looking Chuck Man, those are spectacular. I cant even fathom cutting that groove by hand, And in OBSIDIAN no less?bow down x 1000000000000 That is some serious skill, Look how clean it is. Happy new year!

Did you say before that you cut the groove before you lotto them? This Batch was fully cabbed on the Genie not tumbled. I do cut my groove before cabbing or tumbling though. That way I can establish my girdle line above the groove. Chuck
