Well after my minerology meeting Wednesday (which my daughter looooooved - she's dreaming of rocks & brought some hematite, some vesuvianite crystals, & some garnet crystals to school to show her friends - I just found my rock buddy!) I checked out my polished rocks & decided to try wrapping. As I sat in front of the TV - gazing at it once in a while, while something, then Survivor, then CSI and a bit of the news played, this is what I finally got. I love the rock & this seems to suit it. The wire is crafting wire, and the coating seems to come off, I tried clear nail polish but that got worse marks on it. Not sure you could wear it with a metal chain. If you look a the second & fourth twirl on the right you can see the wire peeling If I get good enough I may graduate to big-people wire. I'd like to thank Doc and Banjo for their excellent tutorials & photos. Mex Lace - the back is same as the front except the stone is not quite as nice. I've gotten better with the camera Someone offered to buy it - any idea on price - for 3 1/2 hours of work - I love this piece, not sure I can part with it - How do you part with your works? Thanks for looking - comments are always welcome - even the bad ones! ;D

Very nice job Tweet! You'll be graduating to the "big-people wire" in no time. It's hard to part with stuff, especially when it's your first piece so I don't know what to tell you there. That's a cool stone, nice shape to it.

Looks good to me...just keep on working with the wire and the more you work the better you will become. I agree...that is one purty rock...love the lace.

very nice wrap, Tweet! you'll never recoup the time you have invested in a piece like that, you have to be doing it for pleasure as well as profit. you should put it away as a present for your daughter. as your skills improve you can look back at your first really nice piece and smile.

That is a very nice piece 'Tweet'! You ought to move to "Big People Wire" ASAP. It really does not behave like craft wire at all, and it sure looks like you got the knack for this. No sense in playing with kid wire and getting used to it for too long. The 'Big People Wire' is way easier to work with too. But you certainly are well on your way with it! Keep at it. KD's right, you'll look back on it and smile in a year or so. I look back on mine and laugh!

I wish it had come right away . I had to print out, read, re-read & read again the tutorial that Banjo wrote up. I could figure out how to wrap the to tie the 5 wires together - although the wire didn't cooperate very well, but I didn't know how to make the bail, twist the wires together or what do do with the ends - I was limited as I JUST had enough to finish - I woulda been swearing if I ran out before I got the last twists in.

Great job Tweets, you are a natural at it. Can't do it to save my life. I learned how to make a great clasp out of wire, but that's it. And I throw away 2 for each one that works. Get some Big Girl wire and go at it!

I would say you could sell that piece with out a necklace for about $15.00 to $20.00 maybe a little more, I think it depends on where you are planning on selling it. If you start high you can always go down in price a little at a time. If you provide a chain you could sell it for a little more. Here is a good example of pricing, when I sell my stuff at SCA events or I know that I will probably not get the asking price because I know the people that attend SCA events don't have alot of money, however, when I go to ren faires and when I am able to get to an arts and crafts show I know that I will be able to get a better price because people go to those things with buying in mind. If someone has already told you they want to buy it start with $25.00 without a chain and if the him-ha around then say I will throw a chain in and if they still him-ha drop the price a couple of dollars.
