now if this isn't too cool - i found these at the dollar store. now i want some rock bead flops (flintstone flops) too! i'm going to try to make my own rockflops - might put a big cabochon in the center ;D. these beads were strung then sewed on the shoe. kim

Are those Swarovski crystals? If they are, please don,t say they were leftovers! I never have any good leftovers! Beautiful beadflops though - excellent job of sewing them on too, perfectly aligned!

That's a cool idea to put rocks on them, make sure you take pics when you're done.

Pretty cool!
Funny you should mention dollar store... Just came from one of ours.
I saw a picture frame which was made totally out of beads, and had some realistic looking plastic stones worked into the bead work.

I allways peruse the dollar store for cheap necklaces and beads. Sometimes, for a buck, I can get a bunch of cool beads on a necklace and just cut the string. Or get a dollar necklace, break off the cheezy plastic pendant and have a nice leather/satin/jute ect cord to work with. Love those flops. Think they could be glued to something set at the toe strap? put a couple of stones right there, that woul look cool, too.

no i didn't make these and they are not swarovski crystals - they are plastic beads. they were $4 at the dollar store and i couldn't pass them up plus i needed to examine them closer to see how they did this . i just wanted to share this neat idea with all the beaders and creators. i am going to be looking for just the right shoe to make the rockflops. in fact why don't we make a rockflop contest of this. you have until june 1st (if my order from africa has not made it by that point i will extend it until it gets here), you can use a sandal or flip-flop, it must have rocks on it (can be rock chips or rock beads) but any additional items can be used (other beads, shells, etc), you can enter as many pairs (must be 2 of each style not just 1 shoe) as you want, and you have to be a member to enter and vote. there will be a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winner. 1st place will get 15 lbs of african stone, 2nd place will get 10 lbs of african stone, and 3rd place will get 5 lbs of african stone. prizes can be chosen from the following stones: blue swirlstone, breciated jasper, mugglestone, rainbow jasper, swazi bloodstone, and vogesite. each entry will need a name so it can be voted on by name. on the vote all entries will be voted on and i will hand count them and pick the top 10 for a final vote off. are you game? kim

Hi Kim,
Great idea ... those are really neat looking ... although I am more of a cowbow boot kind of person myself.
Here in my neck of the woods ... if I start to decorate my boots with rocks ... I would most probably be tied to the hitch'n post!
Very unique ... and I can't wait to see some of the ideas that will come around on your game ... pretty cool!
