Hello...I just bought my first Loritone tumbler and started my first set of agates. I have seen drawings of how rocks should look after each step, but the drawings in the book are not very helpful. Does anyone have a few photos of how the rocks should look after the first set? I'm not sure how smooth is good enough. The first rocks I purchased came in huge chunks of over a pound each and had to be broken up into pretty sharp-edged pieces. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi Amy,
Unfortunately I havent done that on the site, I am going to start some amythyst this weekend and will take some as this progresses and upload.
In the mean time, dont worry about "smoothness" as such in the first phase, as it is "shape" you are concerned with - essentially, after the first phase, the stones are really still rough and will look dull when dried out.
Once you are happy with the actual ***size*** and ***shape*** of your stones, they are then ready to go to phase 2.
Hope this helps Andrew

Andrew, Once I get done tumbling the rubies I can send some pics in. Unfortunately, I dont have any before the first tumble. But I can take some after step two and the polish stage. If they turn out the way I hope then I will tumble the emeralds and sapphires I have. I will send you pics of all stages then. Bill

Bill, that would be great, if you send them over I will add another page on the site with them on so people know what to expect.
Cheers Andrew

Ill send you the pictures of the rubies tonight or tomorrow morning. However they are not red rubies like some may expect. They are several colors from kinda yellowish to super dark blue.
