had a nice session on the grinder today, here is the group that i finished (sitting in the center of a paper plate, sorry, forgot the quarter): there is a piece of tigereye, 2 plume agates, one laguna agate (courtesy of BearCreek) and a piece of something else (can't remember what it is, it's not porcelain jasper but same general color pink stone that i got from Brett). here are some back lit shots, still working on the photography part of this, haha. this is piece of red and black plume agate and the other plume agate, note the lower left just started to undercut but i am hoping the bezel mounting will hide that (just). this is the laguna agate. this is the larger piece of mex lace, can you see the little animal (?) face in it? and here is the smaller piece of mex lace, almost looks like one of those famous japanese Katsushika Hokusai woodcuts (Great wave off Kanagawa) only in reverse. thanks for looking!! KrazyD - those look really smooth. Really nice pieces. The Third pic down does it for me - as its 3D - looks like sponge or smoke in the crystal. Maybe even a Coral? Anyone remember "Coral" - polyps and all that fast diminishing stuff. Trashed by a starfish if I remember rightly - a horny looking thing Nice works KD Thanks for the pics.

Awesome! You are doing such terrific work, I'm amazed at how far you've come so fast with these things. I do see the animal, kind of looks like a bear to me ... too cute! I'm sorry about your little chip, that's so sad for such a beautiful piece, hope you can hide it. That plume agate (1st pic) is gorgeous! Great job girlie!! You Rock!

KD-
Those are just fantastic. I was suprised to hear people say that you're doing great in just a short time. I wouldn't have known the diff. Looks pretty darn professional to me. Good picts too.

Very nice KD. Did you get some tutoring in doing the dome shapes, or are you learning by doing? They look awesome.

thanks everone for the kind comments, thanks Bear for the ID on the flame agate. i won some of this material in eBay and it was only ID'd as "black and red plume", so there ya go!
Ed, i bought some books and have researched on line, but as there are no lapidaries anywhere near me that i know of, all of what i have been doing is just me practicing and of course getting tips in here! Gaetz, i got the grinder last October, so i am still a newbie.
you guys are my inspiration!
