Drummond Island Rocks When you use the glass grinder to do your edges, do you ever try to put a bevel on it? I am stuck unable to cab and wondering if I can put a bevel on the edges and tumble for a quasi cab? I can wrap it either way, but I'd prefer a bevel. I'm thinking it might be more trouble than I think.

Let me see if I can find a picture. Edit: Something along these lines sitting in front of the grinding wheel? This my saw jig Chuck

Yeah, I think I can come up with something. Just wondering if you ever bothered.

Thank you- nothing quite like CAD to demonstrate something.

Thank you- nothing quite like CAD to demonstrate something. 24 years of working on CAD systems now. Faster for me to whip up a drawing then it is to explain what I am thinking. Chuck

Last week when I was working on new shapes I tried a diamond with a 45 girdle. I used the genie but should have used the flat lap. Shape was not bad but groove wraps do not do well with those kinds of bends. Anyone want a FREE pendant before I cut the sterling off and toss the cab away? Chuck

That looks nice. Why are you tossing it away?

That looks nice. Why are you tossing it away? Thanks- I am really self conscious and picky about selling stuff. This cab was just a quick test for the shape to see how the wire would behave. I do not like when the wire is sticking out of the groove at all or when it is not evenly flush around the stone. Random slab was used and less then $1 in wire. No loss. Chuck

Let me check though I may have a couple other choices laying around. Chuck

Drummond Island Rocks I think we got our wires crossed- no pun intended. I was referring to the bevel in the girdle- that infamous angle everyone talks about. I do see how to do it, though... i think.

I just took a second to mock it up. Seems easy. If the garage ever warms up enough maybe I'll try a more permanent version. The piece of wood setting the angle is 1/2" thick so that could just be a 1/2" dowel rod glued to the other piece. Chuck
