Welcome to this forum! Sit back, relax, and listen to the tumbler, pour some coffee, you’re at the good place. Seems like we have some Oregon folks here... We’ll see shortly. Welcome!

Welcome from Oregon... As for hounding Oregon, it depends where you want to go here... Eastern and central Oregon are hot spots for rockhound, could start there...

Recommend checking out the BLM office in Prineville, OR. Agreed. You can pick up a rockhounding map there that will cover most of the sites in the center of the state. A copy of one of the Oregon rockhound guidebooks can also come in handy (click the Amazon "Affiliate" link in the header at the top of this page). Spring can be wet in the western 1/3rd of Oregon, with rivers running high (which means less gravel to search through for jasper, agate, and petrified wood). It is drier in the central and eastern portion, but cooler and the roads in higher elevations can still be impassible due to snow or mud. Generally things get better after Memorial Day, and by the time of the Madras and Prineville Pow Wow shows start toward the end of June, weather is usually perfect across the state.
