On the piece you don't know what to do with, my suggestion, especially since the crystals are clear, would be if you have a trim saw cut the cluster of crystals off and just display them in a well lite area and then tumble the bottom part. Tami

Debra Just to let you know, that the Rosetta is soft. I've have some tumbling with some harder agates for 4 days in Thumler's coarse, and they're just about ready to be taken out and replaced with other rock (They will be taken out at 7 days of Thumler's coarse). The harder agates are no where near as round as the rosetta's. At this rate, I'll have an entire barrel of Rosetta's ready for fine grit before the other agates are ready.
Tami Thanks for the idea! I will definately keep that in mind if I ever get myself a saw.

Hi Alice Just wanted to let you know my order came from Canada in just 2 weeks! Pretty fast I thought. The bad news was they were out of Rosetta stone and won't be getting any in until later this year...sigh!

Consider yourself lucky that they ran out.
I'm learning about it every time I open up my barrel.
It's a great looking stone slabbed, but as for tumbling material, I wouldn't recommend it.
The colored part of the rosetta seems to be MUCH softer then the white, and it grinds very quickly (the colored part). The white is very hard and takes a while for it to grind. I have multi level rocks. It's kind of cool to look at, but I was really hoping for even rounded rocks.
I'll be posting up pictures when the batch is finished. Which should be in June sometime.

Awe...Alice, I thought it would tumble like mexican lace, but it must be alot softer than I even thought! That is a shame as it is really a neat color pattern stone. I sure hope your's turns out beautiful in the end. Looking forward to seeing the end results! Go figure it would tumble like that? I know, I'm learning something new everyday! Thanks for the update.

That's exactly what I thought, and was told they could tumble with other agates. Here's a couple of pictures of the same rock... before and after 7 days of coarse (yes, just 7 days) I'm wondering if they'll take a polish, seeing that they're so soft (if there's anything left). If I ever do these again, I'll be tumbling them alone.
