I got some craft wire from Wal-Mart. Started my very first practice wrap, and then my 9 year old son took over. He calls it "Cyclops having a bad hair day" While he was working on his Cyclops, I started another one. My first official wire wrap.... still lots more practice needed. My son says it looks like an African lady with curlers in her hair.

Thanks NM and Kim I'll let my son know that you like his first wire wrap attempt.
I wonder what he's going to come up with next.

Now that's the way to do it, having fun with your son. Not too bad for your first wrap, keep it up. LOL I love the descriptions.

Cyclops having a bad hair day
LOL! Too funny!
Dang, your 9 year old can wirewrap better than me! And, he is very creative with the names! ;D
Both those wraps are very good for first attempts. Dang sure better than any I have attempted! Keep up the good work.

Hey Alice those are great! Love the names - only one suggestion if you'll be using these as pendants, you seem to be missing a bail - add a loop before twisting & winding the ends.
I think you both have lots of potential - see it wasn't all that hard.

Thanks llana
Thanks Tweetie there are loops in the back of both of them, you just can see them. As for actually wearing them? Not much chance of that happening. I don't wear jewellery (not even a watch). Just a new project that I thought my son and I would try. something creative to pass the time (keep ourselves busy).

Alice, you may not want to wear them but someone probably would! You could sell them - or have your son sell them!

I know that, but I don't want this hobby to become "work".
If we come up with some nice pieces (which I'm sure we will eventually), then we'll be changing the craft wire over to silver or gold. Then it'll be posted up on ebay. But that won't be for a while.

I'm not a "wire wrap" person but I do appreciate the skill and effort it takes.I've tried it and what I ended up with they featured on the Si Fi chanel!!
You and your son have both done a fine job!!

I think those look great Alice. I sure couldn't have done anything like that when I was nine. You've got a budding artist there. How is he on patience? Trish

Trish his patience is very good when it comes to thing he sets his mind to. If he's not in the mood to do something, it just gets left behind.
He did an excellent job considering that he suffers from PDD and other delays. I'm very proud of him.
