I agree. The time & effort you put into finding good material shows! Lapidary can be done on a lot of material; carving, doublets, intarsia, interesting shapes. I'm satisfied making an ordinary shape. To spend the time making a cab the goal is that it is interesting and for me that requires interesting material. The challenge for me is to find material with good scenes with a reasonable cost. I would love to work with material like Koroit but hat isn't going to happen. I have to look at a lot of material to get stuff that is affordable and interesting. It was a lot easier 15 years ago.
