Another amazing creation — welcome to cabbing class! I have figured out a KEY to Hearts, Makes them so much easier. 1) make your heart shape - the cleft, and dome it first Then put the cleft in. 2) make sure your heart pattern is Calibrated before you cut. The templates i have are ALL off So i spend about ....ALL my time trying to even them out 3) go slow...you cant un- grind a stone Any questions ? Ask Mohs

Whatever I’ve been involved with, plays through my mind while I go to sleep. Blessing and a curse. Work, chess, rocks, doesn’t matter. So in this musing, the recent idea, or thing to try, was exactly this. Dome the outside of the heart and straight across the top. Then swoop in and fix/dome the cleft last. Have not tried it yet though.

Yeah that's my method too, makes it much much easier. Cut the cleft with a 600 wheel so any mistakes happen in slow motion, It's not very much material to remove so you will be surprised how quickly you can go from being just about right to too much.
fantastic stone too, a real stunner.

Beautiful heart!!!! I love the design you captured in it. I really enjoy making hearts. They are a good challenge but look amazing when they come out right!

I am always in awe of your ability to capture scenes in the slabs, no matter what the shape of the cab is.

That's really nice. Excellant pattern and design. Amethyst sage takes a real nice polish.
Have you worked with any golden sage? The purple looks much nicer it really makes the dendric stand out better

The purple looks much nicer it really makes the dendric stand out better To me? The best material of this type Has 1) purple 2) opalized white (? Guessing) 3) brown sage branches 4) and black dendrites you have to be careful because More than half the rock you will get? Has white crumbly matrix that can Sometimes be confused for the good Opally white. Also? Hidden fractures in the purple chalcedony Make for a challenge, and are very disheartning. I will not by rough material to slab, too much of a crap shoot. Slabs are your best bet, let someone else take all the chances.
