How well does a petoskey stone cab? I haven't cabbed one, but I have one which should turn out pretty nice. I was planning on using the diamond genie. Drummond Island Rocks Jugglerguy I have seen them tumbled and hand finished and I think Chuck cabs them. What do they compare to- cabbing wise?

So you have the Genie ready to rock Tela? This forum will be poppin’! Oh hell no, not yet. But, I might do some cutting tomorrow. Took a butt ton of jewelry pics yesterday, too. It's still a little too chilly for gene. The worst part is that everything I had dopped up has to be undopped. They were on the outside porch and got really cold. The grip has loosened. 9 of 10 will fly off if I try to cab them. Though the weather this year has been pretty mild, it's not been quite mild enough.

No issues at all cabbing it. It is soft but if it is good quality it will be consistent. No undercutting. I cab them like any other stone but I stop at 3000 soft and then my final polish is always ZAM on a cotton buff in the drill press. Silversmithed pieces wire wraps Chuck

OK, thanks, Chuck- just what I wanted to know. If I get the polish you did, I'll be happy. I have zam, too.

You use mostly round wire so you may not have issues with that. Square wire will scratch petoskey stones pretty easily. I am also on the fence about tumbling them in steel shot. I have had some get damaged.
