A lot of my rock was purchases a long time ago and I don't remeber what it is or why I bought it. I have a double faced piece at 4+ pounds. I saw some colors and patterns that have some similarities with the Butterfly Wing I got recently. I cross cut the piece to determine the best orientation for cutting. It is some kind of conglomerate, is hard and should take a good polish. The BFW is on the left for reference.

Beautiful material! Looks like some type of brecciated jasper, don't see any fracture points either - Nice!...

I know it is brecciated and spent some time doing searches. Closest I could find was Mescalero. Lapdidary material has a lot of different looks. I expect some variation in slices when I cut it tomorrow.

While it lacks the distinctive orbs and streamers (possibly 1 far left), the colors reminded me of Morrisonite. I have some breciated Morrisonite that looks very similar to yours. I’ll be interested in others opinions. Very nice rock. Jeff A

I also remember some crayola jasper I bought that was breciated like that...Colors on it were very similar. Good luck!

I cut it up today and got seven even slabs. The photograph is of the first five and a slab I crosscut yesterday that has some nice druse.

Butterfly has a lot of different looks and this material is closer to Butterfly than anything else I've seen. I messaged the seller that I bought the Butterfly from with the pictures of the Brecciated. I've bought from him going back 15 years. He couldn't id it.
The material is hard and has no fractures, vugs or other flaws. I cut two preforms this morning and will cab it and see how it polishes. I've bought some other butterfly in the past few years and some was worse than this and some was better. I'll list the completed cabs on Etsy as Brecciated and similar in appearance to BW. I have a lot if it slabbed and the there is no material cost so I can price it less than Butterfly.
After tightening down the set screw, the Covington did a nice job. Fast and smooth cuts with the MK301. No additional dressing required for over 10 cuts.
