The Fordite looks great. What do you do with the scraps, magnets?

You must have watched my latest video to come up with the idea to tumble saw scraps. No way you would have thought of that on your own.

The Fordite looks great. What do you do with the scraps, magnets? The pudding stones that are proper size will be magnets. The rest will go into my misc tumbles boxes. The misc tumbles are what I sell at shows where people can fill velvet bags. Chuck

Those horizontal and vertical lines in that Montana really make you think. It’s especially cool, but they all look amazing.

Nice rolls...…….. There is never a reason to throw any scraps away, always use for them, as I see here... Beautiful job!

Just scraps, he says. Nice stones! If you think about it saw scraps should be some of the best tumbles. Folks generally only make cabochons from pretty nice material so the scraps are also pretty nice material. On top of that the two horizontal surfaces are already at about a 500 finish from my slab saw. Just edge grind a little bit and toss them in the lot-o. 7 days later you have a nice batch of shiny rocks. Chuck

I've got about 10-15 lbs of saw scraps I need to sort (by hardness) and use as tumbling fill. Thanks for the reminder!

Any tutoring on "Fordite"? I have some I would like to tumble also.... No tricks used with the Fordite posted above. The two finished pieces are also shown before tumbling so you can see what they looked like. All of the tumbling scraps and the fordite in that before picture skipped stage one completely. Those were all tossed straight into the loto for 120/220, 500 and polish. A total of 7 days from trim saw to finished tumbles. Chuck

I am surprised the fordite lasted thru the first stage. It is pretty soft to work with. Great batch.
