I know many here do random acts of kindness.
Some volunteer on a regular basis to help others.
As a volunteer of over 50 years, I would love to hear some of your stories.
What have you done to make a difference in the lives of others. Rock, or not rock related.
I will share two recent things that happened in the past day.
I offered 4 horse themed necklaces on a forum that helps others in need. Two of the necklaces went to children who love horses. Their families have limited income. The children must walk up to a mile to where their horses are boarded. They must clean stalls , groom and feed both their own and others horses. Sometimes do work outs of the horses of others.
Another went to a now disabled woman who always had horses. She was a riding instructor. Misses her horses and interaction with horses.
The last went to a person who currently boards horses. She is giving it to a friend who has a therapeutic riding stable for Veterans and those with challenges.
The other event was the posting on RTH of jewelry supplies by Dan.
I purchased them. Within minutes, most had been donated to an organization I am active with. We will be using most of the supplies to change the lives of others.
Some will be used for crafts at disadvantaged children's parties. The children make Christmas/Birthday presents for family members. Some will be used to let disadvantaged adults make something pretty for themselves. Some will be used at the local Veteran's Home for craft classes.
I will be using some at the MREA Energy Fair as an advanced class for children who find rocks in my intro class on rock hounding.
Plan on doing some overnight vibe tumbling of the found rocks. Then clean them out before the session. Have a helper lined up to help parents and their children attach the semi-polished rocks to magnets or some of the jewelry settings from Dan.
What remains, about 20%, I will use myself.
I have always been in awe when what costs so little to do can change the lives of so many.
So, please share your stories.
