I could not resist any longer. I clamped up a brazilian agate that would have been a bit awkward in the normal saw vise. The CRS gripper got a good bite on it and the first test cut was a success. I was a bit nervous for sure but I grabbed the rock and tried to loosen it before making the cut and it was a solid hold. Not a very pretty first cut but hopefully the rock gets better further in. Now that I have a flat surface I will mount the rest of the rock to a 2x4 for the rest of the cuts. Thanks for looking Chuck

Looks like you got a hand from the Terminator. Seriously, that looks pretty awesome to have.

Hey there, Chuck. I was really nervous about the first cut with ours, too. Trying to pull it outta' there by hand is all you can do. They really do "grip" well.
Did you play with rotating it and spinning the arms around while it was in there? We've slabbed chunks with pretty oddly-angled ends that way.
That round agate you just cut would've made me extremely nervous. I still worry about chunks that taper uniformly like that - even though we've never had one slip once it was locked in there and tested. Can't help but be nervous about the sound of 18" blades getting trashed... .

Pete and Sari have their shop where the gripper is made about a 5 minute drive from me. They are a fixture in our NW shows.

Are these things really that much better than the good ol vice? Never used one so wouldn’t know. I’ve personally never had issues clamping down round stones.

Very interesting product. The thing is though. If no one knows about your product, no one is going to buy it. I think he needs to get off of his butt and get some info out there. Even his facebook page is useless.

Think I might buy one and upgrade it. I know exactly how I could improve on this.

Even his facebook page is useless. Getting off his butt, for Pete, has become quite the task. He had both legs amputated. He made it to the Prineville and Madras shows, with help to get their motorhome there, Sari is not up to driving it. I stopped by and visited in Madras, and it is clear he is determined to keep going. He planned to move the shop equipment to build the grippers into his home shop so he can resume making them. Pete has always been an in person show seller, never really did the online thing at all. They have a granddaughter who was going to be setting them up, maybe that will work out. I have known them for years, his auto shop and the machine shop he made the grabbers in was less than 10 minutes from our home in Vancouver WA

Love these and will buy more Both you and desertrat429 are from the same city- maybe the same house. Both of you popped into an old thread to push the gripper. Is there something you'd like to share with us? I mean, full disclosure is good for the soul.
