A long time ago I heard that the glass with the white spheres in it was from a Coca-Cola factory that burned down. I have a piece around here myself.

Wow that’s so weird. I just found a big round chunk of green glass yesterday, but it doesn’t have any of the white stuff on it.

Got any nickel mines close by toiv0 ? White specks and chunks in slag glass is usually a sulfide. Nickel sulfide is used to make figures to be cast in glass without cracking the glass. Not many materials can be cast in glass without cracking it. Chances are if it is white and it did not crack the glass it is a sulfide. sulfide marbles Nickel sulfide reaps havoc in tempered glass. I have a handful of old green coke glasses and a couple of the old bottles. I wonder if they would melt down to something like that?

I could only find one reference to that glass, which was an item listed on Ebay. EXTREMELY RARE COCA COLA GLASS SPHEREA rock dealer friend told me that the glass was from a Coca-Cola plant in Texas that burned down in 1950. Apparently all the molten glass ran down into the basement where it was left to cool down. They had such a problem with trespassers taking the glass, that they ended up bulldozing the pit to prevent more theft. A bunch of the glass ended up on the lapidary market for a while.

Cool,with the back light can't see if it has the white spheres Here it is without the light. It doesn’t have the spheres and am not sure what the white and brown stuff is on the one side. Probably a sulfide of some sorts, as jamesp mentioned above.

Looks like classic Coca Cola colored glass too. Synthetic opal is another compound that has properties that allow it to be reliably melted into glass. You avatar looks like glass with opal fused into it...
