I found a new site 2 weeks ago and it is the best yet. Rushed a few along in the vibe. First, a group. Now, a couple favorites. And this is the top and bottom view of a somewhat weird but still cool rock. Thanks for checking it out!

Those are some great pieces, beautiful bands on some of those rocks. Tami

Wow, some amazing banding in them, is this new site very far from you? LOL I'd be spending all my time there looking if I could find stuff like that. Nice pics too!!

Thanks Cher and Tami. Drove about an hour and 15 min to get there. Amazing, no?
These aren't the best of it, either...most of it is still in barrels, these were regularly shaped enough that I put them start to finish in the vibe. The best is yet to come (hopefully!!)

I wouldn't vouch for the water quality, though!!

Beautiful patterns. I sure wish we had rocks like that around here. I gotta get out before long and see what I can find. Trish

Hey Trish, if the "arkie" in your screen name means Arkansas, you guys have some great rocking, maybe better than us. Have you been to Crater of Diamonds?

I've been to Crater of Diamonds but it was years ago and all I found was dirt. I'm going to try to get back there this summer. Hope for better luck this time. As for rocks here, it's mostly crystal which is too pretty in it's original shape to tumble. Trish

Hey Trish, I'd LOVE to go back to the Crater and it would be great to have somebody to hang out with who is REALLY interested in it. I've read into it a lot. It you are going to be camping and wouldn't mind having another digger, let me know!

It's only around a 2 hour drive from here so it will be a day trip. I'll let you know when I go though. It would be great to meet someone from the list. Trish

Hey Trish, this is a great fantasy to spin out! If you are really feeling dedicated about it, I really think it takes at least several days to feel like you gave it a shot. It takes a while to get oriented and decide where you want to look and it is surprising how tiring and strenuous just walking around there can be. If you can chat up any regulars and rangers it helps you find a spot (maybe) but it also chews up time. It really works out better to have at least one overnight. Their campground was great in the past, though I haven't stayed there since the late 80's or so. It's a fun trip. Just don't try staying in the commercial developments in Murfreesboro. (I left a post about it on the location board.) I want to find a diamond! Preferably a 7+ carat canary yellow!

Wouldn't that be great! Don't know whether I could take more than one day of it We got rid of all our camping gear years ago. If I could find one great diamond, I wouldn't have to wait till we sell our house to buy that equipment I want. ;D
