This is a gorgeous piece of red Mexican Lace from KD that I've made another attempt at wrapping. Was severely frustrated with it though, I thought I had enough extra length on the ends but it wasn't enough to do a whole lot. Banjo, how do you measure the stones you're wrapping so your sure you have enough extra without waste? Conceivably, this could be worn either way but I do have my front and back choices. (front) (back) I don't know if I can say I did KD's lace real justice with it so hope you all will be honest with your thoughts, they really do mean a lot to me and I value your opinions. Thanks for looking, Cher

Hee heee heeee KD your predjudice though, I could wrap tinfoil around it and you'd love it as long as it's Mexican Lace. Thanks kiddo, I appreciate your input. Hubby likes it too, guess I just expect too much from myself and always think I can do better.

Amazing, Cher. And if you think any less of it you are too hard on yourself. You were born for this kind of thing. 2 thumbs up!

What a beautiful job. Hope you don't mind if I print out the picture...I'm just starting and need all the help I can get. I'll be interested in Banjo's answer to your question about wire length. I wrapped a stone last night and only had enough left to do a small loop. The one tonight was much better...probably because I learned a little something from looking at Banjo's wraps (and decided to stop worrying about wasted wire). But my attempts don't compare with what the two of you do. Keep those pictures coming!!!!

Thanks everyone, I really do appreciate it.
Nugget, I don't mind you printing the picture at all. I'm honored that you'd want to even consider my stuff as a learning help. I still sit and stare at Banjo's stuff, it's beautiful and does help a lot to create inspiration. I'm trying to talk myself into giving the hematite a go today. I'm waiting to hear what Banjo says though. I do worry about wasted wire though, can't help it.
Thanks again, Cher

That's a real nice wrap job there. I know it's real hard to be objective when you look at our own work. I think it's great! You asked about length. I use a thin tape measure, or string, or placemat, you get it. I usually just cut it 3 1/2" to 4" longer than the diameter of the stone. I figure about 1 1/2" for the bail, and 2 inches to play with. I change the way I wrap on almost every stone. I still don't have a consistant method of starting, or ending. Sometimes I start at the beginning with the bail, sometimes in the middle and work my way to both ends, sometimes the bail is the last thing. Keep at it. I try to do at least one a night. You might try getting some square wire to twist and accent the wrap. Great Job, and getting better each piece. I hope that is some help to you. You're looking real good!

Thanks Banjo, that helps a lot. I have some square wire in silver that I wanted to try and work into either the hematite or rose quartz teardrop. How do you twist it? I have an open end pin vise, could it be done with that? Thanks for the compliments and your help.

Banjo...what kind of wire do you use mostly in your wraps. My friend had me get square for the bundle and half round for the wrap. I haven't tried twisting any yet, or anything very fancy. One a night, huh? Guess I'd better get busy. I've only done cabs so far, but the tumbled stones look good, so I want to try one of those.
