What happened? The non damaged surface looks unusual. What kind of wheel and grit?

Well I was making my mom some hand stones and the stone on the wheel I’m told was petrified wood in the final stage. Inside after the first 2 wheels was something really hard and sharp and tore it up. cab king 6 inch 280 grr

My wheels seem to be more rubberized. Generally, I use hard wheels to remove anything sharp before going to soft. You should be able to get some use out of the wheel before replacing; work across the wheel and using the non damaged areas for the sides.

This was inside the wood/Chrystal after the first 2 grits And was quite smooth and something black was just under The surface . I gave the final to mom without taking a picture so the rock/wood in the picture is a before example. I made a few other cabs after and will keep as a backup.
