hi all, just an update for you on my progress with those (#@%) Costa Rican rocks my friend brought back from her vacation. here is what i'd posted earlier and here again just for grins: well, they were SO soft i didn't dare put them in the tumbler and i had an idea that they weren't gonna be easy to deal with on the grinder either, but my friend really wanted a set of earrings for her mother, so i finally had a go with saw and grinder and produced: i glued some bell caps on one set as an emergency back up, BUT the gold filled ear screws(for non-pierced ears) were SO off the plated cap color, i would have had to order a different set of screws. anyway, i double dopped all these, sweated cursed and ignored them for a while because i knew they would crumble when i tried to drill them. FINALLY i could ignore them no longer as Mother's Day approacheth! so i had to bite the bullet. and yes, a few were damaged and i'm going to try and regrind them and set them in silver (someday), but here is what i ended up with: needless to say, i was happy, she was happy and hopefully her mother will be too! thanks for looking! KD

And you should be pleased, you did a great job considering how soft they were. That was so nice of you to keep trying until you were able to make something out of them. More courage than me, I'd have given up at the first crumble.

Well done, KD. I think my patience level would have gone off the scale before that was over with. I'm sure they will be very happy. And I would tell your friend what a PAIN IN THE B-HIND these were to do. You know, just so she has an appreciation cookie
