I’m sure many of us have the older cordless tools with the niCad batteries that are obsolete since LiIon came along. Many of these tools are still good but a new tool is less than new batteries. So far it’s just a thought experiment, but couldn’t you take a power supply like this: RoMech 30V 10A Adjustable DC Power Supply, Switching DC Regulated Bench Power Supply, Stable Outputs with Short Circuit, Over Temperature & Overload Protections, Alligator Leads & Spare Fuse Included www.amazon.com/dp/B081SKNHTV/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_-wCtEbDY5NDMSand run a good sized tumbler? The new brushless dc motors are really good.

Saw a while back someone built a sphere machine using three drills that originally had NiCads on them. Don't remember the power supply, but it worked.

I believe that a drill would work, with proper speed reduction, but I am a bit doubtful of their longevity. I typically expect cordless tools to last for only a few hundred hours of actual run time.

The drills are getting to be amazing. My M18 fuel will power a 5” wood hole saw no problem, if you can hang onto it.

It's an interesting idea. A while back, we had a local battery shop that would rebuild the NiCad battery packs, and it was substantially cheaper than replacing the batteries. I don't know if anyone still does this, but maybe it would prevent having to buy new LiIon powered tools.

I had a Dewalt cordless drill for construction work on grain elevators.. We worked the roofs (100 - 120 feet up), we had to have lasting power without changing batteries all the time.. Dewalt did it! Had that same drill and two batteries for over 15 years with no problems... I'm old school still, I like the old stuff.. It ran better, longer and was easy to repair and rebuild!

Fossilman the m18 fuel line is pretty good stuff. I have a 12AH battery that runs a lot of tool. Fills the 1 HP wet/dry vac with ease for hours.
