Some parts of this are cheap, other's aren't. Most everything came from Home Depot. Intended to be constructed with minimal tools. I have this setup in the back of a walk-in closet and when I close the door I can't hear anything. Tumblers fit well on the boot trays. Boot trays intended to catch spills if anything pops open, saving the floor/carpet. Shelving is reconfigured to create a bench, essentially a cover over everything. Boot trays didn't quite fit the way I'd hoped. The handles on the trays go out to 29, figured those would stick through legs. Corners of trays are closer to 27 inch. Didn't quite account for the leg dimensions being on the inside. Not really a problem if you don't use another shelf piece as a bottom. That does make it a little more wobbly. The wobbliness was addressed by wrapping a layer of duck tape around the end of each leg before inserting it into the shelf. That tightens the fit a bit, then further stability is added by taping both sections together. Fan sized to fit in this space, provides airflow to keep motors from burning up in an enclosed space. Care is taken on the intake side of the fan to make sure nothing gets pulled in or blocks flow. An air gap exists on both the left and right sides to promote flow. Current setup hinders some flow to second large tumbler motor, so chunks of plastic sheeting have been clamped to the underside of the shelf to redirect some airflow. Carpet padding cutoffs screwed to the top of shelf and drape down to create a noise barrier. Also creates the wind tunnel for the fan. Wanted to use something dedicated for noise dampening rather than all my coats and sweaters.

My large rotary tumblers make more motor noise than the smaller rotary tumblers, so smaller is quieter. There is less noise from the rocks if the barrel is 3/4 full vs 1/2. It will take a bit longer to complete a stage, but be a somewhat quieter if there is a bit of extra water. A couple of drops of soap make a foam and also dampen the sound. Turning up the music helps. A cheap baffle to absorb sound are cardboard egg cartons. Good luck with your projects.
