Looking good!
I talked to the mine owner and he said he would send me some to check out. Haven't gotten it, yet.

After I had ordered this I seen Highland Park has rough for sale at 10 dollars per lb. I think 50 dollars gets you free shipping also. After the exchange rate I think thats about what I paid.

If it's similar to Austrian material it's dolostone with graphite between the crystals. Oil is no issue. Congratulations on the purchase!

Looks like you're going to be having some slabbing fun, Billy! Vince slabbed the Austrian stuff on the 18" with oil and it was fine.
Can't wait to see some of your slabs.

Any updates on the Canadian Pinolith yet?
A few of the chunks in your photos looked like they had smaller patterns that would be good for cabbing.

I emailed the mine owners and literally begged for a sample. To my surprise, they generously sent me a nice chunk. I was waiting to cut it before posting. But it is faced on three sides. One side, in particular, looks really good. I'll try to get a picture tomorrow.

I got to see it and it is fantastic! I will say it's a tad different from the Austrian. (to me anyways) material.

I cut a piece up and seemed like the dark part soaked up the oil. I cleaned a slab up and its sitting by the genie. The other slabs I have sitting in a super absorbent. It is a porus ceramic. Won't be home for a few weeks. Will see how they polish then. The grey parts hadn't lightened up yet and still has an oil smell. The dark is considerably softer than the light.
