Hi folks, I’ve looked through some threads and maybe I’ve missed it, but am wondering what you use for a respirator when you cut. I usually use an N95. What are you using? If possible, please be specific. Thanks!

I use a 3M 8511 N95 respirator when trim sawing and using my flat lap because my face is always close to the work. When cabbing, I rely on the water to capture most particles and usually don't wear a mask.

No mask for me. My trim saw floods the cutting deck with water and when cabbing I like to use a lot more water than required. I find that the wheels do a better job with a lot of water.

No mask, don't like them and wouldn't seal anyway.

I just mask up with sanding and polishing.... I don't want COPD!!! As for cutting, I cut outside and usually a breeze is blowing, so that's a plus..

Wear a mask if you are making dust. The N95 are pretty good for most projects. Of course, they are almost impossible to find for sale now because of the virus panic.

If using an enclosed saw I don't use a mask. For open saw cutting, trimming slabs, coarse grinding and polishing with oxides I use 3M 8210Plus disposable respirator masks. Up until about two months ago you could buy a box of 20 from Walmart for around $15 and have then shipped to your local Walmart store free for pick-up. And Home Depot sold them for around $19 for a box of 20. But good luck finding any on the shelves now until the Corona panic subsides.
