Ran up to Rusk Texas yesterday to pick up some material. The owner of the Rock Yard, Keith, had his normal booth right behind me at the Clear Lake Gem and Mineral Show and I made arrangements for a trip up. Managed to bring home about 450 pounds; Included was over two buckets of cut geodes, thundereggs and Brazilians along with 4 or 5 interesting pieces of Palm Wood. DSC_0462 by Findrocks, on Flickr DSC_0463 by Findrocks, on Flickr A bucket and a half of uncut Choyas, various Thundereggs including several large ones; DSC_0465 by Findrocks, on Flickr Also 2 buckets of un-cut Brazilians, with about half being the white-skin. About 1/2 of bucket of Rios(they will make nice tumble-hammers!) and a half bucket of mixed Texas wood including some South Texas material; DSC_0466 by Findrocks, on Flickr 4 large and 2 small Septarians. The biggest of which is about 10 inches. DSC_0464 by Findrocks, on Flickr 2 very nice pieces of West Texas Flower Garden Agate 1 and 2 pounds each with one side sliced to expose the material; DSC_0467 by Findrocks, on Flickr Really happy to get the Septarians, if a couple of the large ones show crystal pockets, they will almost pay for the whole load. There was almost 40 broken Geode Halves. Keith brings a Geode Splitter to every show and these were scattered in various crates. I figure I can sell them between 3 and 7 to 8 dollars each as folks always like the hollow ones. The owner is in the process of moving and is trying to sell everything, all 50 tons of it. Short of that he will be moving the whole lot north about an hour. I stay in touch with him and see how it ends up. Henry

Between moving the rest of their household and Show stuff to the Houston area, Gem Shows, possible sale of everything and End of April deadline. If he keeps all the rough it will be moved to Lindale Texas, just across I-20 from Tyler. We will just have to wait and see. Henry

Looks like you did pretty well for yourself again this time. Man, if it wasn't so far away from home, that would be a real treat to see and pick through. It's hard to imagine, especially for us Easterners, the sheer volume and variety of some of these collections.

Very nice haul, Henry! Hope the Septarians have crystals in them and you show us when you cut them. The large ones will present a problem when it comes to clamping them on the saw as they need to be cut can along the thinner axis. That makes for a larger face to be polished. The custom Geode holder I have was built for my 20 inch saw before I acquired the 24" saw can accommodate up to 7 inches, these are between 8 and 10 inches. I have forwarded this problem to the engineering department and they are working on a solution.
