knave I have basically this same kiln. Mine is a Jen-Kin. This is a great kiln because it has heat in the top, which is needed for glass fire polishing. It also has a digital controller, made by Orton, same as this one, also needed for glass fusing. Ceramic kilns just do not work well for glass. I also have a 24-12 Jen-Ken with a Orton AutoFire 2000 Controller which I can hook up to a computer.....................MrP

I did some melts in a small microwave kiln. It started the whole glass melting thing. They have a small capacity but will sure melt glass knave. They are not very durable. Glass often splatters within and damages the kiln. Somehow it heats fast and cools fast without cracking the glass. Mysterious.

This is the way to go Evan. If you guys don't get into the glass you can sell it for what you paid. Used glass kilns at a good price in good condition are a no-lose purchase. The microwave kiln teased us, had to get a bigger computer controlled electric kiln.

Your quick fire kiln for small jewelry pieces looks like a great way to go manofglass. Small glass is much more user friendly than large plates and vases.
