How did you learn what the Brazil saw shops use?? Evan, he is a world traveler. Not just a suthe'n boy from Georgia. He is more sophisticated and worldly than most people know. (Don't tell anyone, he takes great pains to keep it on the down low, lol.) He’s the real alien around here and I’m just the patsy in a government coverup.

i have been using antifreeze for a month now in my 16" saws going to try the 18" later today so far im liking it the one draw back is the blade needs dressed after 40 cuts or so but i can handle that because clean up on slabs are awesome compaired to that nasty oil also cleaning out the saw is a cinch just drain and wash out !!!! Do you have any problems with rusting? At this point I'm thinking about getting some and if it doesn't steam maybe add a slight amount of mineral oil... or would dish soap be better? you cant have rust with straight anti-freeze

Thus I wonder about rust as it's different then auto stuff. That's my largest concern

That's my largest concern It's mainly water with methyl alcohol in it. It's also labeled as being flammable. I would be looking for my blade to rust if I were using it.
Here's the MSDS PDF:

Yes that's my concern, I've heard folks use it a bit. Maybe adding more mineral oil to the saw would make it steam less?

Definitely the cooler the cut and blade, the less steam you would get. More oil would get you that lower temperature cut. However, oil mist would increase I'm sure.
I'm not really sure where you're getting steam from. Oil burns and smokes, water steams.

Maybe different pulleys? It's running at stock rpm. Friends14 inch lortone drop saw does the same. Might trt adding more when i get home

When you get excess spray its usually because of too much depth in the lubricant. When you get excess mist, it often is due to high temperatures (i.e. dull blade, too fast of a feed rate, stone too hard for blade and saw, or too large.) You can use a lot of things but oils are best suited and perhaps the safest of lubricants for large saws.

Even cuting slower then my 24 inch still makes mist so not speed or blade issue. If that doesn't fix it not sure what else could cool

Bardahl "No Smoke" will stop your misting problem Good link? Any thick oil additive does the same thing, in the snake oil section of the parts store.

Any thick oil additive does the same thing, in the snake oil section of the parts store. Lee, Bardahl no smoke made my saw go from needing 30 minutes to let the mist settle after a cut to I can open it soon as it's done. I'm with you on snake oil for car people, but this product actually made a difference in my 24" frantom
