Hi All , This set of pictures are a bit deleayed , but I still want to share them with you. Our club had arranged a meet up with another rockhound club a few hours drive from my place. On the way there we went to a beach where we found lots of fossil shells in layers on sandstone. Turritella shells were the most common there. Some also found sharksteeth...very tiny ones. Later on we went to where we had arranged a bed for the night and then on to one of the local clubmembers to view his extensive rockpile. Wow , there were some awesome pieces there. Next day we went looking for rhodonite and we found that it was formed on a faultline in the earths crust. Rhodonite was found and it was hard to get pieces of it. Heavy sledge hammers were used and they bounced back with a vengeance. Others applied the technique of hammers and chisels to try find the cracks . All in all it was a great week-end with superb weather. 180 million year old fossils on this beach. Turritella shells Sandstone shapes Big Face obelisk rhodonite site the faultline rhodonite mounds natrulite petwood NZ agate NZ Thanks for looking Jack

Jack-
Hey those are some great looking photos. I'll bet you had the time of your life. Are you going to try to flat lap the shell panels? They would probably turn out pretty nice.
Again, thanks for posting picts of stuff found on the other side the earth.

That natrulite looks great! What is that neat purplish/greenish rock that the crystals are embedded in?
