Me too! Just starting off with a smaller batch, still winter-ish, will probably start another larger barrel too at some point.

Looks like a great box of rocks. Lakers take a super easy polish but if you want them flawless be prepared for a challenge. I spent an entire year working on about 25-30 pounds.

Can't help but echo the last couple comments. Lakers give a great return on time invested. Look forward to watching!
ETA: that's the kind of rough that keeps tumbling exciting.

I don't need a challenge with my non existent skills. Oh boy. I'm sure they'll be less than flawless, with the pits and me not grinding them down or trimming. I may have also gone and started a 12 lb barrel with another load already..

be sure to add some smaller quartz pebbles in the 1/4" to 1/2" range to act as filler between the larger pcs. they look like they are 1"+.

Yes, some are large 1-2" pieces. Should I toss those in immediately or like after a clean out then add? Or would quartz be better than more agate? Thanks

Could probably add more smalls after the first week (presuming you'll be doing coarse for more than 1 week).
This first week is mostly going to be knocking off the sharp corners. The rocks will pack differently once that happens, opening up quite a bit of room.
If you have more agate smalls, you can go ahead and use those, they'll be lovely. Quartz works as a nice filler cause it's plentiful, and cheap if you have to buy it.

rockstock add the your coarse till full (80% of drum) then only add enough small stuff to fill the voids. You can do this by rolling it around or just add dump it out and add some smalls to the larger ones and dump it back and shake till you are back to 80%.

Gotcha, thanks for the advice. I will let it roll as is for about a week and do a clean out refresh and add in my tiny agates, jelly bean to peanut m&m sizes or so.
