Hi guys,
Hope your stones are rolling well!
I was curious if I could use a desk fan motor to make my own rotary tumbler set up?
I was planning to use a pulley system to slow down the rpm. Just wondering if it would be strong enough not to burn out?
Cheers!

Doesn’t take much to turn a 3 lb tumbler. If it’s a multi speed fan, wiring could be interesting.
You may need to be more specific as in, size of barrel, info from motor. Ie, a battery powered spritzer fan won’t power a 15 lb barrel, lol

There's really not enough info in your original post to give you some guidance. You'll have to provide a bunch more specifics as to what you are trying to accomplish.

Thanks for the replies, the questions you've asked me has kinda provided me with the answer... It's a 220v 45w 50hz motor. So I'm assuming it would not have much trouble spinning a 6-9lb barrel. (6-8 inches diameter, home made barrel). When pay day comes in I'll order some parts and update you guys if it works

Is it safe to assume you live in other than the U.S.? 220v & 50 hertz is a tip. Welcome to the forum and good luck with your build.
