You might blame that missing heart on a Blue jay or Crow, both like shiny objects !

right on Ev years ago I wanted to do a video tutorial but couldn't find anyone to hold the camera it would have been a crack up I also mentioned if came in beaucoup bucks I'd throw a 'RTH craft a rock’n heart' Olympics Modeled one of those chef shows All the rough- all the lapidary equipment -for each team Timed- a moderator extrapolating on the grief drama joy & the judges rating heart performance... what I like help with is getting the best sheen polish on that lavender jade O like to believe that its smooth enough grind through all the grit stages so I don't think needs a rework altho I haven't taken a loupe to it yet but if a better sheen is possible I open to help thanks ED mohs check out this article from Rock and Gem Magazine. Maybe it will help you with polishing that purple jade.

Wow that article is really informative HummingBirdStones!
The article makes a distinction between Purple Jade and Lavender Jadeite. Not sure which one I have. I don’t see orange pecks in the stone- which is according to the article- a feature of Purple Jade. Someday I may get it-checked out. I still have a small slice of slab left. I do recall the vendor saying it was Purple Jade. He also said the stone likes heat when buffing. So this is another clue the article helps with. I will try the cerium oxide method.
Which is good. I need to get my Pixie tuned up and use the side buff. I took the stone through 8000 and buffed it w/ with 8000 diamond paste on hard cotton. Somewhere I have a Nova 14,000 wheel. Find that and do some stone sliding. Then buff on the Pix with the C/O. A rock project !!
Thanks so much for posting !

Yes, jade loves heat to polish. If you have a felt polishing pad that you can use with the cerium, that would get the heat up fast!

Great article! I've cabbed quite a bit of it with pretty good results and yes, it likes heat.

Here's one in the sun. Most all of them have a little bit of orange peel, but not very much.

This is after a light attempt to better buff the stone Little better Also wanted to show the orange spot If I had never read that article wouldn’t know the significance Thanks HummingBirdTones !! I”ll keep at it I can see grind striations w/ the naked eye No need loupe it and really get loopy. The important thing was getting the Pixie humming So will heartily buff on Thanks for peeking Ed
